Fitting your BlazingStove

Recommended Clearances for the PeppaPigg MiniMax, FatMax  MightyMax and AnnieMax Wood/Coal Burners

Safety:

Correct installation and safe operation is the buyers responsibility.

Your new wood burner will most likely be fitted into a confined space.

Heat shields must be installed and safe fire practices maintained.

never leave your fire while the door is open

cut wood to suit the fire. 280mm maximum

do not burn plastic packaging or other rubbish.

Clearances:

The rear and sides of the fire should have a clearance of at least 300mm from any walls or furnishings As this is often not possible in the confined space of a motor home or Tiny House this distance can be reduced to 200mm at the rear and 150mm on the sides by fitting a metal or cement board heat shield to the surrounding wall or cupboard with an air gap of 20mm behind, below and above to allow air circulation

AnnieMax comes with an integral  heatshield to allow you to get her a further 50mm closer to any combustible walls or furnishings

Flue The flue should be fitted with our semi circular heat shield ($85) unless it is more than 400mm from a wall or a window. With a heat shield the distance can be reduced to 150mm

The bottom portion of the flue is the hottest part of the stove, so check the wall with your hand. if you can't leave your hand there- then its too hot. fit a heat reflector to the wall if necessary.

Where the flue passes through the roof, Our flue kits provide all the parts needed  A 200mm sleeve is fitted for the flue to pass through. The outer sleeve should extend from ceiling to at least 150mm above the roof. A flue length of at least 1.8 meters is required for your new fireplace to draw properly. Flues over 2.4m have a powerful draw and we have an optional flue damper kit ($45) to quieten things down and encourage longer burning.

The Base:

The hearth or base must be made of slate, concrete paver, tiles,or  bricks and it should be at least 500x500mm. Ideally it should extend forward far enough to catch any embers that may fall when the door is opened. On the Basic range of stoves, the base heats up significantly so  leave an air gap under the hearth or fit a layer of insulation. The fire and hearth should be secured in place with 6mm- 8mm bolts through the base of the fire and the hearth into  the structure of the vehicle, . When you light up for the first time, check the heat buildup on adjacent walls and under the hearth, if it is too hot to leave your hand on it (50C) do something about it -increase distance if possible or fit a double heat shield.

safe operation is your responsibility. If you have any questions or require further assistance, Please feel free to contact us.
